Well damn, who needs paint when you have beer, right? I’m a big fan of beer. Most ladies I know drink wine instead of beer, and I suppose that is a bit more sophisticated and ladylike. However, even after all I’ve learned about wine from Twitter’s wine expert, @RickBakas, I still prefer beer. And, of course, at an Atlanta Braves baseball game or a Falcons football game, it has to be full fat beer, none of this wimpy light beer stuff.
I’ve always thought that beer is just for drinking. Who would have guessed it could be used as paint too? This beer artist, Karen Eland, got her start painting with watercolors. She quickly progressed to painting with coffee, and now she dips her paintbrush into beer. In the video below you can watch her at work. It’s fascinating! Karen has beer-painted portraits for breweries, restaurants and beer labels around the world.
She is able to get the different brown colored effects you see in these images by layering the beer. The only bad part about this type of painting is that it smears and comes off the paper if any water gets on it. I would have never thought using beer as paint could create such beautiful artwork. If you would like to have a beer painting made for yourself, you can contact Karen directly on her website.
