A Bizarrely Creative Headstone Design For Your Inspiration

This has been circulating the Internet for a few years now, but this is the first time I’ve seen it. Apparently it’s a topic of controversy, and there are a lot of people who really don’t like it. I’m not sure why that is. It could be because in this case, it takes the focus away from the husband who is buried there, and it puts the focus on the wife who is the person this headstone represents.

This is the headstone, or gravestone, of Laurence Matheson (1930 – 1987). It’s a marble sculpture called “asleep” that his wife commissioned from artist Peter Schipperheyn. She had this made to express her undying love for her late husband. Mr. Matheson’s unique gravestone is in the Mount Macedon Cemetery of Victoria, Australia. What is your take on this?
