Clever Birdfeeders Made With Repurposed Household Objects

Since I’m sitting at my desk on the computer most days, I like to look out the window into my backyard often. There is a rabbit house out there with a cute little white bunny, and several birdfeeders. If you have birdfeeders in your yard, and if you fill them with birdseed everyday at the same time, the birds start to learn when you are going to be outside to feed them. They start to become pets in a way because they will wait patiently for you to come outside and visit each day. It’s a lot of fun.

I’ve written about many different types of birdhouses and birdfeeders in the past, and of course the R2-D2 and C-3PO designs from this geek birdhouses collection are my favorite. As much as we talk about recycling and repurposing, it never occurred to me until today that we can all make birdfeeders from everyday objects around the house.

Photographer Reinhard Hunger decided to repurpose some things in his home to make some fabulously creative birdfeeders. These look a little bit too fancy to hang in the backyard, but then again, the birds don’t care what the container you put their food in looks like, right? So, why not? He made birdfeeders from a retro boombox, a chandelier (with Christmas tree branches), sliced coconuts and a brass cake stand. He even created a little Caribbean scene for some of the birds. This is such a great idea!
