Skull art has always been popular. A quick Google search will reveal a ton of really cool art inspired by skulls; however, this is the cutest little skull design I’ve seen in a long time. I’d like to make one of these myself. Maybe it would scare away all the annoying people that come to my door during the day and interrupt my Twitter time. I could attach a circuit connected to some juice so they would be electrically shocked when they press the skull on this doorbell. #wishfulthinking
Shannon Larratt created this, and of course, it all started with a mold box made out of Lego blocks! He sculpted the actual doorbell piece (with the skull) out of clay. Then, he made a two-part mold out of silicone, cast it in plastic and painted it. He says it only cost cents to make, and he’ll make more for anyone who wants one.
The pictures below give you a glimpse into the process for making one of these. He admits it was a messy job, but worth it. Shannon is no stranger to creating inspiring skull art. On his website, in addition to more details about this doorbell, you’ll find information about the Stainless Steel “Skoon” (Skull Spoon) he made, and his Skull-Shaped Soap Molds. Thank you for sharing your passion with everyone Shannon!
