How To Really Annoy A Graphic Designer [Infographic]

Having worked as a graphic/web designer for over a decade now, it is safe to say that I have probably come across pretty much every single kind of client there is. Some are super nice while others you are literally scratching your head trying to understand. Here’s the thing though, a true graphic designer has many years of formal training, just like the infographic we are about to present informs us about, and it’s easy to see whether they are a true graphic designer (Wikipedia) by having a closer look at their portfolio.

Putting together a portfolio of graphical dabbles is pretty easy, the hard part is to put together a portfolio that will impress people. Putting together something graphically impressive takes time and if you say that you create a bunch of logos per day, well, it’s safe to say that you are not really a graphic designer, more like a factory.

As the title of this article suggests, we are going to take a closer look at how you can really annoy a graphic designer. We will do so with the help of a pretty funny, but very true, infographic created by Print-Print. It’s called “How To Really Annoy A Graphic Designer” and delivers a true image of what graphic designers do not want to hear.

Let’s start with the obvious one. The one that most people, graphic designer or not, have probably already heard. Graphic designers hate to be asked if they can do things for free. If someone works as a graphic designer it means they do so for a living. Work is equal to pay and some clients seem to completely ignore the fact that graphic designers need to pay their bills as well. I can attest to the fact that graphic designers receive a ton of “offers” where shameless haggling and freeloading seems to be nothing less than a sport. If everyone could just understand that the less you pay the less work will be done. It’s simple really, no pay means no work.

If you are looking to hire a graphic designer, make sure you have a look at this infographic first. Allow yourself to smile and giggle, perhaps at these hilarious 72 posters of ridiculous design feedback from clients , but also remember that behind each of these annoying things is the truth. A truth that could possibly make your collaboration experience a horrible one. Remember to treat your graphic designer with the same respect that you would pay anyone else that you work with. It’s a profession like any other and most of the time, graphic designers are able to offer their services to you because they know what they are doing. Now, have a laugh and enjoy!
