Hunger Games Necklace Inspired By Katniss Everdeen

Of all the new movies I’ve seen so far in 2012, The Hunger Games is definitely my favorite. I’ve seen it half a dozen times already, and I cry every time I watch Rue die. I can’t wait for the second movie to come out next year. It seems like almost every week they are announcing more people who have been cast in Catching Fire, and production of the movie is scheduled to start in the fall. Katniss Everdeen is my favorite character, and I’m so happy she will be returning in the next movie. I haven’t read the books yet, so I’m watching it all from a different perspective than a lot of people. This Hunger Games necklace makes me want to watch it all over again.

One part of the movie that is especially entertaining is watching how Katniss tries to impress her potential sponsors. She does this awkwardly in many different ways, but in my opinion, her fire dress is the best part of that. I don’t think I’m the only one who would love to have a dress that lights on fire when I spin around. Apparently a lot of people are inspired by that dress because I’ve seen several artists and designers create things inspired by it.

The people who work in the Old Junkyard Boutique Etsy store are some of those artists. They create one-of-a-kind accessories and jewelry from used parts bought at garage sales and antique shops. One of the pieces they currently have in their store is this handmade Peeta Fire Hunger Games Necklace. It’s a “girl on fire” pendant charm locket piece of jewelry inspired by Katniss Everdeen. On Etsy, this Hunger Games necklace is described like this…”the locket creates a fire glow fabrication so cool you will instantly fall in love with it. The glow blinks slowly, kind of like a firefly.” Okay, I want this right now. It’s on sale for $30, and there is only one.
