World’s Largest Kaleidoscope Is Covered In Swarovski Crystals

If you are a woman who loves jewelry, you are probably familiar with Swarovski crystals. They are some of the most beautiful crystals in the world, and I treasure my earrings that were created with them. What I did not know until today is that in Innsbruck, Austria there is a place called Swarovski Crystal World (Swarovski Kristallwelten) where you can visit to experience everything you ever wanted to see when it comes to crystals. According to the reviews, people either love it or hate it, but one thing is for sure. This must be the highest concentration of Swarovski crystals in the world, and I’d love to check it out.

This theme park, for lack of a better word, has 14 underground areas specifically designed to celebrate the Swarovski crystals. One of the magnificent creations at this place is the world’s largest kaleidoscope made of Swarovski crystals. This unique creation was designed by Andre Heller and Peter Mandi, and it’s called the crystaloscope. I remember having a few kaleidoscopes as a kid, and when I’d hold them up to the light and twist the ends, the colors inside would twist, turn and create a fascinating light show. You probably remember that too. If you want to know what the crystaloscope is like, just imagine that childhood toy on a much, much larger scale. According to Beautiful Decay, the installation “casts variations of images that appear from the ever emerging crystal formation.”

Another attraction that would be fun to visit there is the Crystal Dome. It’s a place where almost 600 mirrors create a kaleidoscope display with all different colors. The nature of crystals makes them the perfect material to create a kaleidoscope, and now that you’ve seen these pictures, you know what the world’s largest kaleidoscope looks like.
