The random question of the day is, do you still wear a watch? If so, why? I get it that they can be fashionable and fun to wear, but are they useful for telling time anymore when we always have our smartphones with us? Is there anything a watch can do that a smartphone can’t? I never thought I’d see the day when watches would be on their way out, but I think it’s happening.
So then the new question becomes, what do we do with our old watch now that we don’t wear it anymore? Last month I wrote an article called 16 Ways To Use Your Wrist Now That Watches Are Obsolete. Today, it’s all about our watch, not our wrist.
When I first saw these little motorcycles made out of old watches, I thought it was just about the most creative way I’d ever seen to give an old watch a new life. These watches were created by Jose Geraldo Reis Pfau, a Brazilian artist. He’s been playing around with motorcycles and sculpting since the 1960s. He creates these on the weekends, and his collection now exceeds 200 unique antique-looking watch motorcycles. They consist of metal, plastic, glass, silver and sometimes even gold. They aren’t for sale yet, but he hopes to sell them sometime soon. You can learn more about Jose by visiting ArtePfau.
