An Inspiring Mirrored Treehouse Design You’ll Want To Experience

Just like a LEGO, papercraft or any other kind of build, a treehouse build can be as big or as small as you can imagine. It can be fancy or simple, and it can take a weekend or a lifetime to complete. I while back I wrote about the World’s Largest Treehouse, and at that time, the guy building it had worked on it for 14 years. It had 80 rooms! I’m sure by now it’s even bigger. Some people focus more on the treehouse design itself instead of the size, like the person who built this Treehouse Castle. It looks like a real castle right up there in the trees.

When I learned about this creative mirrored treehouse design, which was nominated for the Best Wooden Building Award in Sweden this year by the Swedish Forest Industries Federation’s architects jury, I knew I had to show it to you. Yep, that’s right, it’s in Sweden (about 60 miles from Lulea in Northern Sweden) so I asked Richard if he’s ever seen this in person since he lives in Stockholm. He doesn’t have a first hand experience of it, but he says he’s heard great things about it.

This little hideaway up in a tree is part of the Treehotel, which means that if you are ever in Sweden, you could potentially sleep in this beautiful treehouse design while you are visiting. I can only imagine how beautiful the sunrises and sunsets must look from sitting in there, high up in the trees. The concept is that it’s more of a hotel room than a treehouse really. Since it’s mirrored glass all the way around, it almost disappears when looking at it from the outside. From the inside though, there is a 360-degree view of the nature outside. In order to keep birds from crashing into the mirrored house, the mirror is covered with an infrared film. Humans can’t see it, but birds can. Brilliant! This was conceived and built by Tham & Videgard Hansson Arkitekter. If you want to see more fantastic treehouses, click over to 10 Fantasy Treehouses.
