Grotesquely Impressive Monster Themed Light Switch Plates

You gotta admit, we’ve featured some pretty disgustingly gnarly stuff on Bit Rebels over the years. I’ve got another one to add to the list today, and it comes just in time for Halloween. When it comes to interior design, swapping your light switch plates (the plastic thingies that cover your light switches) is one of the easiest and quickest things you can do to change the energy and decor in a room. All you need is a screwdriver, a couple of little screws, a new switch plate and voila… you’ll have a whole new experience each time you flip that light switch on and off.

I wrote about some very cute hand painted Robot Light Switch Plates a while back. It’s not hard to find custom switch plates, and some of them are truly extraordinary. Etsy user dogzillalives (aka Karen) takes decorating switch plates to a whole new level though. She makes one-of-a-kind nasty looking monster switch plates by molding polymer clay over standard sized light switch covers.

As she says on Etsy, these “will totally get your kids to stop messing with the damn light switch!” Dang, I’m an adult and I wouldn’t mess with the damn light switch with these things on there either. To add a little more fun (or creepiness) to the mix, she named some of the monsters so they seem friendly (but still gross). She is currently selling switch plates Bitey McToothcrunch with bulging eyes, 2 Eye Blobs (one with blue eyes, eyelashes, bad acne and freckles), and even one with monster teeth, pimples and veins oozing out. All the switch plates are in the $50 – $60 range. Would you want one of these disgusting monsters in desperate need of some serious personal hygiene hanging out on your light switch? I have to admit, these are a lot more fun than the boring ivory colored switch plate I have on the light switch in the room I’m sitting in now.
