I don’t know how long washing machines last, but I’ve only had one during my adult life. That’s not to say that someday it won’t need to be replaced though, and when that day comes, it will be time to figure out what to do with the old washing machine. Occasionally we all have household appliances that break or get too old, whether it’s a dishwasher, an oven, a refrigerator or a washing machine. When that happens, what do you do with the old one?
The best thing we can do with old stuff is give it a new life so it can suddenly become new stuff again. It can be a tricky endeavor, but some people have dedicated their lives to finding ways to give new life to old things. In this case, you can create a futuristic looking chair from your old washing machine. It’s supposedly comfy (although it doesn’t look like it), and it will definitely be a conversation starter in your home.
Instructables user gtonya created three different chairs from an old washing machine. You can click over to her tutorial called I Used To Be A Washing Machine and watch the video below. Each chair has a name. There is the Buddy Armchair, the Dorry Chair and the Dramms Stool.
She added a little seat to each one so it would be comfortable to sit on – but other than that, it’s just made with washing machine parts. The chairs look futuristic, which is a harsh contrast to their old life. This is definitely a creative way to reuse a washing machine that can no longer wash clothes. If you want to try this for yourself, you can click over to her tutorial and download the instructions.
