I remember a few weeks ago when I wrote to you that I was going to try to write one photography post per day through the end of the month. Although a few days have gone by when I haven’t done that, for the most part, I’ve written about a collection of fabulous photographs or a creative photography technique each day.
I did that so I could learn more about photography because it’s an art that I’m very interested in. I have learned more in the past few weeks about this topic than I have in the past few years. The reason I’m telling you this is because many people think you have to know a subject inside and out in order to blog about it. I would humbly like you to consider doing the opposite.
To me, blogging is the most fun when we decide to blog about something we are unfamiliar with. By doing this, we get to learn about it with our readers and experience it along with them, instead of taking on the role of an authority. The whole process of choosing the topic, researching the information, writing the post, responding to comments, it’s all one big learning experience, and I definitely recommend it if you haven’t tried blogging from that perspective before.
Today I’d like to write about the Bronson Caves in Los Angeles. These particular caves have been used in Hollywood movies and television shows for decades. Photographer Brice Bischoff, who is known for using colorful reflective light in his photographs, decided to use the Bronson Caves for his latest backdrop. Using colored paper, long exposures and motion, he was able to create these smoky rainbow colored ghosts. You can visit Brice’s blog to view a complete movie history of these caves, which dates back to 1932. You can learn more about Brice’s photography at Brice Bischoff. I just love these!
