These are the geekiest, most creative and fantastic wedding invitations I’ve seen in a long time. I remember last spring when Richard wrote about the guy who proposed to his girlfriend in a very Super Mario Bros way. The video went viral, and I’m curious to know if that happy couple is already married.
Another fun couple who also loves Super Mario Bros is Ryan Watkins and his new wife Esther. They decided to have an 8-bit Super Mario themed wedding, and all I can say is holy crap, this is ultimately cool. Not only did they send out these game cartridge invitations in a neat little envelope, they open up into a totally cute retro-looking invitation.
They also had matching wedding favors for all their guests, like this box you see below which opens up to a thank you card and Super Mario chocolate coins. Everything was handmade (except the chocolate coins) by Larry T. Quach and a couple helpers. I don’t know how anyone else who has a Super Mario Bros themed wedding could ever top this. I mean, the only thing more fantastic you could do, as one reddit commenter said, is to send out an actual game that people have to beat in order to find out the wedding location or something. Even the seating chart and place cards at the reception were Super Mario Bros themed. These pictures really don’t do it justice; just click over to Larry’s blog to see a ton more pictures and to read more about this touching story of geek love.
