As I’ve written so many times before, often it’s not enough anymore for baking foodies to just create beautiful cupcakes. They want more. With the success of Pinterest, the creativity in us all has been taken to a whole new level, and the current trend is to create cupcakes that aren’t just fabulous, but super duper fabulous. Since it’s all about the visual effect these days, one way to achieve that is by creating cupcakes that look like other things.
We’ve featured many examples of that, but nothing really illustrates this point more than the Cupcakewurst which is a cupcake laying on a Long John doughnut with raspberry topping. Of course, when you look at it, you’ll think you are seeing a bratwurst on a bun with ketchup. It’s a mind twisting visual for sure. Today I have another very cute cupcake that looks like something else to show you, and this time it’s a refreshing snow cone.
These adorable looking icy cold snow cones that you see below (complete with a spoon in them) are really cupcakes. These sweet little summertime yummies were created by the blogger at Bakerella. She wrote, “These snow cones won’t melt. Nope. They’re not icy… but they are frosted.” Although the red, white and blue colors are a great snow cone combination, you could of course make these in any colors that you like. You can click over to Snow Cones for the complete tutorial and recipe. She really pulled off the snow cone look because I thought they were really snow cones when I first glanced at the pictures. I bet they taste as good as they look!
