Often times we see artists create fabulous designs that go viral on the Internet, and when this happens, many times they are inspired to create a second version. Whether it’s because of the comments and feedback from the Internet community, or just a new surge of inspiration, they will often go back to create a version 2.0 of their original. We’ve seen this a lot on Bit Rebels, and this is yet another example.
In 2010, Harrison Krix created an incredible Daft Punk space helmet replica. We featured it back then in an article called Homemade Space Helmet Breaks All Boundaries. It was a colorful helmet of technological and futuristic goodness that went viral almost instantly.
It seems Harrison is back at it again, and this time he’s not only made a better and more badass helmet, he made sure to have it photographed alongside this beautiful DeLorean which only adds to the magical, mystical feel of it all. His original Daft Punk helmet took him 17 months to make. This one took 4 months. It has “350 LEDs, can run over 4 hours on a single charge, and the matrix is capable of being updated on-the-fly with a custom programmed IOS app.” You can learn more about this on Harrison’s blog at Volpin Props and by watching the video below.
