I don’t know if this is really considered a mashup, but I love it. Do you remember Where’s Waldo? I grew up on those books, and I remember spending hours searching for that little red and white guy on those pages. It was so much fun when I finally found him. It’s amazing how easy it is to get a sense of accomplishment when you’re six years old.
A lot of artists have shaken things up and put Waldo in different scenarios, but I think this one is my favorite design so far. In this particular cartoon, artist Richard Sargent created Where’s WALL-E. But wait… the fun doesn’t stop there. These aren’t just random robots in this illustration. Each one of these robots is famous, and it’s even more fun trying to figure out which ones they are than finding WALL-E.
To make the story even sweeter, this ended up on one of my favorite social sites, reddit. Reddit readers are very passionate and always up for a challenge. One reader wrote, “Fuck it. Let’s do this,” and he created a new illustration (the second picture below) with numbers in place of the robots. He also included a list for the 180 robots. You can click here to get the list, and fill in the blanks if you know some of them. woo-hoo!
