Back in the old days, people used to wear contact lenses when they needed to correct their vision. These days, correcting vision is only one reason why people might wear contacts in their eyes. A while back I wrote about a pair of contacts that cost $15,000 and was made out of gold and diamonds. I suppose it’s a status symbol to wear those. I wouldn’t stick those things in my eyes if I had a gazillion dollars, but that’s just me.
Soon, we may be able to partially cyborg ourselves by getting all kinds of cool augmented reality features in recreational contact lenses. We’ll be able to read words displayed in front of our eyes, just like in Terminator. Some people like to use contact lenses to accentuate their personalities. It’s not so strange really. It’s no different than getting some piercings or tattoos… or is it?
Although some of these look really weird and wacky, and sometimes scary, keep in mind, they are just contact lenses. After all, some people modify entire body parts to achieve a certain style. When you think about it that way, this isn’t that extreme. I remember I almost bought some lavender contacts a few years back. I decided against it since I thought the look might be too much. Those seem mild now when I look at these. If you’d like to purchase some contacts like these for yourself, check out the inexpensive selections over at You Know It. They even have some glow in the dark lenses, and some that will make your eyes look bigger, like anime. Enjoy!
