With over 12 million views (on vimeo), this exurb from the documentary film “Playing For Change: Peace Through Music” was an astounding community collaboration. Non of these musicians ever met or had anything in common, besides knowing the song and singing it in their city/town/village. The vision for the project was ” a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. The idea for this project arose from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. No matter whether people come from different geographic, political, economic, spiritual or ideological backgrounds, music has the universal power to transcend and unite us as one human race.” Over the last four years, the crew traveled the world from California to South Africa to Europe and Jerusalem to record musicians on site, with their portable recording studio. They have created a variety of fantastic videos and merchandise to support their non-profit efforts. A group of the musicians featured in the videos are getting ready for the fall tour. Check it out to see if your city is on the list. They’ll be in Seattle November 18th, w00t!
