Lego Build Of Japan Created With 1.8 Million Bricks

You know we are big fans of the micro Lego builds where artists use only a few Lego bricks to create an expressive character or event, but the massive builds that use hundreds of thousands of bricks are of course impressive too. Sometimes people spend years putting those together, and they devote entire rooms in their homes to the endeavor. That is a special kind of dedication, and I can understand how it would be relaxing at the end of each day to add a few bricks, and I suppose after a few years it would all come together into a monstrosity of a Lego build.

We’ve featured tons of micro and massive Lego builds here on Bit Rebels, and I would definitely say that the one I’m sharing with you today falls into the massive category. To celebrate Lego’s 50th anniversary in Japan, Lego recently sponsored an event called Build Japan to build Japan in Lego. Over 5,000 people joined in the fun, and when it was all said and done, the entire build consisted of over 1.8 million bricks. Many of the people who helped build little parts of it were children, and they were encouraged to be creative and not only build structures that actually exist in Japan, but also things that don’t exist yet which they would like to see there. What an inspiring project!

I really like this version of Japan which is partly real, partly imagination, and all Lego. You can see tons more pictures here on Facebook. As you’ll see, in order to keep it all organized, people built their parts on tables and then gave them to the Lego masters who added each piece to the whole build. This continued until it was all finished. This Lego build is now on display in Tokyo. This reminds me a little of this Lego Car, which must also have at least a million bricks on it. Awesomeness!
