I wonder how long it will be until we completely ditch the paper we keep printing on every day. I mean, with all these new gadgets and devices being released, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a new kind of gadget that really came close to paper yet didn’t have to be thrown away or recycled once it had been used. I know there are some technologies out there that are being developed to mimic paper’s flexibility. They are entirely electronic and could show you whatever you can see on a regular computer screen. However, like everyone says, it will probably be a long time before all of us will be using this new technology.
The mega minds behind the design studio Zim and Zou, Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann, have come up with their own technique to create some of the most colorful creations you can ever think of. Over the past year, they have been creating beautiful retro electronic gadgets entirely out of paper. Of course, they don’t actually work, but they make for a masterful art installation.
The core idea behind these papercraft gadgets is to reuse and recycle paper, every last bit of it, and to create something that will once again have a purpose. This time around it’s the purpose of making you relive some of the awesome stuff we all used to call top-of-the-line when they were first released, and we were fortunate to get our hands on them. I personally think these creations are out of this world and the colors are amazing. They look like they were taken directly from the ’80s, and I love it. Every geek dating back to the ’80s knows exactly what I am talking about. It’s a brilliant project to say the least!
