It’s 2011 and Lego has never been more popular. The only bad thing about it is that it’s still really expensive if you want the cool stuff. Just imagine that Lego has been around since 1949 when Danish businessman Godtfred Kirk Christiansen developed it. It’s one of those ideas that would come to change the world, literally. The number of builds you can achieve with Lego blocks is, of course, unlimited.
There have been considerable developments in the realm of Lego, and new blocks have recently been introduced. Today Lego consists of over 2,000 different blocks in 64 different colors that you can play with. This article could easily become a Lego wiki if I don’t stop gathering information. There are a lot of different websites out there that deliver far more in depth Lego information than I will be able to cover here. Back in 1960, the TV (back then it was of course black and white) commercials were just starting to achieve good results, and Lego wasn’t slow on getting their own ad on the telly. It’s amazing to see what the selling points were back then, and how the whole concept was sold to the children of the world, especially in America.
The kids in the commercial are almost beside themselves, and the builds, well let’s just say that they are no too impressive. When I was a kid, I sure would have wanted to check out one of the Lego skyscrapers the narrator is talking about. It would have been epic to say the least. However, time moves on and so are the systems of Lego. The only thing we can be sure of is that we will unfortunately never see commercials like this again. It’s kind of sad really if you ask me.
