Retro Games Recreated: Gummy Bear Stop Motion Video

I remember writing an article a while ago about the Gummy Bear Chandelier, and I remember Diana and I discussing how much the thing would cost. We were both way off when we guessed how much it would be, and it was settled once Diana (yeah, she awesome like that) called the creator and asked what it would cost to order one.

The price for a gummy bear chandelier apparently is $9,500, which took us both by surprise. Sure, it contains 5,000 hand strung gummy bears, but $9,500 feels a little too steep if you ask me. But then again, if you are Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs or even Bill Gates, I am sure that price wouldn’t even phase you.

So yeah, it’s unlikely that we’ll be buying one of those anytime soon but to cheer us up, I have found something quite cool to look at instead. YouTuber BlankChip18 really knows how to throw retro gaming right into the sugar land of candy. By using ten pounds of gummy bears, he created a really cool and inspiring stop motion video that will have you craving gummy bears in a second.

The games recreated are of course Breakout, Tetris and Space Invaders. I think I even spotted Pac-Man in there stirring things up. Even though the video clip isn’t very long, you can be sure it must have been quite an endeavor to put it all together to make it look this good. If you hold out until the end, you will learn that once the project was finished, the ten pounds of gummy bears were eaten and haven’t been seen since. All I can think of is how I would feel after eating ten pounds of gummy bears. Hopefully I will never have to find out, but it is indeed an intriguing thought. #JustSaying
