Three days ago marked the first official day of summer, and that means over the next month or so we’ll probably see a slew of new do-dads released which we can use to add some geeky flavor to the summer season. If you are a Star Wars fan, you might like these Star Wars Swimsuits (the R2 one is the best). There are usually a lot of silly little things released also, like these Star Wars lightsaber sunglasses that actually light up like real lightsabers.
As you can see in the pictures, the arms of these sunglasses are the actual Star Wars lightsabers. They come in Sith red or Jedi green and blue. There are of course little LEDs in them which allow them to light up like lightsabers. I can’t help but wonder if it would be annoying to see the LEDs in the corner of these sunglasses when wearing them. Regardless of that, it’s a nice touch that the glasses themselves are a retro style that will take you back in time to the day when you watched Star Wars for the first time.
This isn’t the only time we’ve featured Star Wars inspired glasses. If you want to see a more sophisticated collection, you can click over to Geek Eyewear. There you’ll see real glasses (not sunglasses) inspired by Darth Vader, Luke, R2, Boba Fett and a stormtrooper. The designs are subtle yet recognizable.
If you’d like to get a pair of these sunglasses, you can click over to Hot Topic where they sell for $16.50. Right now they are buy one, get one half off. I wish there was a purple Star Wars lightsaber represented here, but I’d still take the blue one.
