Just when you thought you had seen every type of Star Wars merchandise possible, someone comes out with an epic joint venture that has the money literally flying out of your wallet or purse. The latest galaxy treasure is a range of Star Wars watches from Seiko. They include Darth Vader, R2-D2, C-3PO, Yoda, Darth Maul and a Stormtrooper. As usual, I am at a loss as to which one I would choose, so the only option is to buy them all!
The Seiko Star Wars watches are all extremely unique and lend themselves to the personalities of the characters they have each chosen to immortalize. With the Stromtrooper, you get an elegant white face and a death-star-esque set of sub dials.
Darth maul is an epic watch that brings out the wonderful black and red design. Darth Vader is big and black, as you would expect to show the force is strong with that one. Although the back of the Yoda watch make it look like the Jedi is a little queasy, Seiko has outdone themselves with a black and green montage that is a tribute to the Jedi master. It reminds me of when Yoda says, “Do or do not, there is no try.” Seiko brought the ‘do’ to this watch.
So where are the droids you are looking for? I hear you ask. Well no Star Wars memorabilia collection would be complete without the droids who have a place in everyone’s heart. The C-3PO design is nothing short of epic. The gold and black design brings out the sophistication and charm that C-3PO brought to the Star Wars series. The back of the watch, where the characters are always displayed, shows an almost 3D version of the golden droid that will have you taking off the watch at every opportunity to show your friends. And last but by no means least in this collection of Star Wars watches is R2-D2. This watch offers a great tribute to everyone’s favorite little droid. The analogue face has been replaced with a retro Seiko digital classic that will have both watch and Star Wars collectors drooling. At $1,800 a piece, these Star Wars watches are certainly not cheap, and I am sure everyone will have a character in mind that they think should have been part of this collection but isn’t…I guess only time will tell if they add more.
