There are a few stop motion videos out there that are all about Star Wars Lego builds and action, but the lack of epicness in them is quite obvious. The scenes are usually narrow, small and sharply cut in order to minimize the effort needed to create something huge in scale. It can be quite boring actually when everything feels like a retake of something that was already shot but from a different angle. I am sure we would much rather prefer something really impressive to look at, and the effort that is put into something like that sure has its advantages. As I said in the beginning, the lack of “epic” in Lego builds is quite obvious. However, don’t fret, there are people out there that really do care about the real scale of Star Wars, and they are ready to put in the man hours to make it a reality, even though were talking about Lego.
Jay Hoff, a designer and Lego enthusiast, is one of those people. What he can put together is out of this world, not only because it looks really awesome and realistic, but also because of the majestic and epic scenarios and angles this build has. The scene, which is one of the most memorable in Star Wars, is carefully recreated with 388 Lego figures, and I am sure thousands of Lego blocks. Even the red carpet itself is brilliantly incorporated into the floor, which gives it yet another dimension.
Today since you can go onto Lego’s website and order any block or figure that you want, collecting them isn’t that hard. However, this painstaking and time consuming build is more than enough to impress me beyond measures. The images themselves really tell the epicness of Star Wars, and if you look carefully, you will be able to find more and more details that will certainly blow your mind. Geeks are all about epic, especially when it is EPIC!
