The Future is Here | Design Your Own Thrill Ride

Yesterday there was a new ride unveiled at Epcot sure to blow everyone’s mind. This is a next generation futuristic thrill ride called, “The Sum of all Thrills.” This ride allows patrons to design their own virtual roller coaster, bobsled track or plane ride and then ride it. How cool is that?

Just like certain video games stimulate creativity in children by allowing them to interact on a personal level; it looks like amusement park rides are starting to do the same.

According to http://www.cnn.com, “Kids design their experience on touch-screen computers, using a digital ruler and pre-selected track options to construct their rides. If a person tries to build something physically impossible — a hill that’s too steep for the cars to climb, for example — then they’re asked to retool their ideas.”

“The Sum of All Thrills” is a component of Raytheon’s MathMovesU program, which challenges students in math and science, and assists in creating the next generation of innovators for the U.S.

This ride, being called a robocoaster simulator, is not only expensive but complicated to build. But like any technology in the infancy stages, I’m sure that will evolve quickly and we will see more of these types of rides in the future!
