One Small Tweet: Travel To The Moon On Twitter

There have been a lot of Apollo 11 resources popping up all over the web ever since the 43rd anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepping on the moon for the first time on July 20th, and then of course, Neil Armstrong’s death on August 25th. All the tributes to Neil Armstrong have definitely sparked a new inspiration and curiosity about what it would be like to travel to the moon.

One of those resources is a project sponsored by The Martin Agency and the JFK Library. It’s called We Choose The Moon, and it’s a fabulous website with 11 different stages to learn about the Apollo 11 mission (including an official certificate you can print). For anyone who wants to someday travel to the moon, or for anyone who just wants to learn more about it, it’s a great site jam packed with information. It’s one of those sites where you’ll get lost for an hour.

However, instead of being powered by rocket fuel, it is powered by tweets. If you want to be part of the journey, you can simply send a tweet with the #onesmalltweet hashtag. Each time someone sends a tweet with that hashtag, the little rocket gets closer to the moon. You can go to the One Small Tweet webpage to view the progress each day. According to the website, “With one small step in 1969, Neil Armstrong took one giant leap for mankind. Now honor his journey, and his life, by tweeting a dedication and tagging it to #onesmalltweet. Each tweet gets us 100 miles closer to the moon, and one step closer to a giant tribute.” Now, what to type in the tweet…
