When the name Florida comes to hearing, what do you think of? Sunshine, palm trees, white sand, or Miami? While these are some of the fantastic things that make Florida unique, there is still so much more you cannot afford to miss when you plan on visiting.

Do you know that no matter where you are in Florida, you cannot be more than 90 kilometers away from a beach? How thrilling. Enough of the playing around, let’s get into ten must-see places you should not miss in Florida – the sunshine state.

1. Kennedy Space Center

Here is one of Florida’s most fascinating, exciting ad educational attractions. It is a huge space exploration complex where history was made. It is worthy to note that many visitors spend the whole day here and the reasons are obvious.

Visitors are exposed to exciting exhibits and displays like rockets and the Space Shuttle Atlantis. You also get to meet an astronaut and learn about missions to space. Impressive studs if you are fascinated about space.

2. Walt Disney World

Disney World in Orlando has been infamously termed the Magic Kingdom, and the reason cannot be far-fetched. After more than a decade of thrilling visitors, the gigantic amusement park continues to stand and command a lot of crowds every year.

Gone are those days when all that is available are the traditional theme parks. Nowadays, visitors are exposed to an extensive list that includes the water parks of Blizzard Beach and the Typhoon Lagoon. You should not also miss out on the Disney Hollywood Studios and so much more in the Magic Kingdom.

3. Everglades National Park

1.5 million acres of marsh and swamp; alligators, American crocodiles, deer, turtles, Florida panthers, and so much more are what the Everglades national park will give to you. It is over a shallow river that flows from Lake Okeechobee to the Bay of Florida and has porous limestone at the bottom. In order to catch a glimpse of wildlife like alligators, you will need to go on airboats, and you can be sure it will a show of a lifetime.

4. SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld is in a world of its own when it comes to amusement. As the Walt Disney World, SeaWorld is a mega amusement park that offers the opportunity to see and interact with marine life. Sea lions, ducks, and a penguin are some of the animals on show. If you want, you can also get to enjoy the rides available like the Mako roller coaster and the Journey to Atlantis water coaster ride.

5. Busch Gardens

This is one of the most popular attractions in the Tampa area and definitely must-see in Florida. It is home to quite several animals and boosts as one of the largest zoos in North America. Animals here include elephants, giraffes, lions, gorillas, and many others. Like the safari tours that give you a close look at the animals, Busch gardens let you go through in open vehicles.

Beyond the wildlife, however, you also get to enjoy all kinds of thrill rides that even children will enjoy. Both wet and dry and wild and fast roller coasters are available – be sure to have a good time here, else you will have to be here more time than you expect.

6. Augustine

Here is one of the oldest settlements in the sunshine state. Its old but charming architecture and historical sites make it a must-see location in Florida. Having being built by Henry Flagler, Flagler college remains one of the most photographed buildings in the world. You should not be here and forget to visit the Castillo de San Marcos National monument. It is well preserved and sits over an impressive sight over the coast.

7. Dry Tortugas National Park

the Dry Tortugas national park is built in the 1800s by the US government on a beautiful reef island that has other island around totaling seven. While the national park might be the center of attraction, it is worthwhile to tour the other island as well. Of course, they are not accessible by car, boat trips are always available for a day trip. You get to eat both breakfast and lunch.

8. Salvador Dali Museum

What do you think of a museum in a modern building – curving glass that seems to envelope a box-like structure? Breathtaking, right? That’s what you see when you visit the Salvador Dali museum in St. Petersburg.

This gives the building a striking appearance. Inside the museum is a complete overview of the arts of the famous artist the museum was named after. And it doesn’t matter if art excites you or not, this is a place you will love to be.

9. The Florida Mall

If you are big on shopping, then the Florida mall is a must. Even when you are not intending to buy, with seven anchor stores and over 250 retail venues, you can be sure to have a lot of sight-seeing to do.

10. Fort Clinch State Park

living history, family recreation activities, military re-enactments, and so much more is what you will find at Fort clinch state park. It is an old fort that was used during the American civil war, and you get to learn about old history.

While visiting Florida from outside the US, you should be concerned about the ESTA USA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization). This is an online registration form that helps to determine if you are eligible to visit.
