We write a lot about different world records as they occur since it’s always inspiring to see people push the limits of what is possible. That seems like a great thing to put on a bucket list – to snag the world record at something. It could be anything really. There seems to be a ton of wild and wacky records presented in the Guinness World Record book. To be more specific, the 2013 Guinness World Record book has around 4,000 world records (and a ton more facts) in it. This year, there are 3,000 new entries which means about 1,000 world records went unchallenged or unchanged from last year to this year.
As always, in the 2013 book, there are some wild and wacky world records. I thought it would be fun to choose a handful of them to share with you here in pictures. You’ll see everything below from the world’s largest biceps to the biggest horse to the tallest dog to the youngest professional drummer. It’s all here for us to marvel over. The question is, if you wanted to add earning a world record to your resume, what record do you think you would work towards? Many times it’s a group of people who do it together, and I think that would be a lot of fun.
The 2013 Guinness World Record book was published in 22 languages and is expected to sell around 2.7 million copies. It’s technically considered a reference book, but it’s more like a mind-blowing picture book to me. This famous book has been published each year for 57 years. My favorite picture below is the first one, which is the world’s oldest gymnast. Her name is Johanna Quaas, she’s 86 years old, and she regularly competes in gymnastics competitions. Whoa! If you want to read more about the specifics of each one of these pictures below, you can click over to The Telegraph.
