It’s now been a while since the initial reports of the BP oil spill showered the world in chaos and fear of what was to become of it. It took several months before they could block the constant flow of crude oil into the sea, but was it too late?
Sure, BP got their penalty, and in the end, they had to pay a massive amount of money to make sure the oil was removed and the shores of the Mexican gulf were safe for wildlife and humans again. But what happened then? The eyewitness reports and the reports that BP sent out don’t really match, which makes us believe that more things still have to be done before they can declare the coasts safe and sound.
Photographer Jane Fulton decided to shake people’s opinions a little. She put together a series of photographs to further imply that things will probably never be the same. Whether they were created to scare people or just simply spread the news is unclear, but I think if both of those things happened, that would be the best thing. After all, if these multinational companies don’t take better care of their equipment and follow the proper safety precautions, I think the world has a lot more to expect in terms of natural disasters unfortunately.
Have a look at these photographs and tell me that you don’t care about the environment. I am sure if you didn’t care before, you definitely do now. I keep wondering how we all can be so afraid of intruders, burglars and thieves to the point where we are ready to arm ourselves and possibly shoot to kill in order to keep ourselves safe, but when it comes to our planet, we don’t really give a crap as long as we can get those extra cents out of her. Without a planet, we certainly won’t have any homes to care for, right? Sometimes I am truly amazed by the stupidity of the human race, and what she is capable of doing to gain money and power. Is it time we change yet? That’s of course up to you. Are you?
