As people all over the world continuously ratchet up their work schedules, it makes sense that new designs keep appearing that allow workaholics to take a much needed nap during the day, or even at night when they’re working late. We’ve written about these types of capsules or pods many times. They offer people with insane work ethics the opportunity to grab a couple hours of sleep before hitting their laptop again. This particular design is a desk with a hidden bed built in it.
There are a couple situations when having a desk like this would come in handy. Of course there is the obvious reason, and that is to conserve space, but I envision this hidden bed going beyond simply optimizing space. What if you desperately need to catch a quick nap at work? You can simply lock your office door and get some Zzzzzs. It looks a lot more comfortable than sleeping in your chair while resting your head on the desk.
Having a hidden bed in your desk would also offer you maximum flexibility if you need to stay the night at your office for whatever reason. The best part is, nobody would ever have to know you have a bed beneath your desk. It would be like the ultimate office secret. You could stash a pillow, an alarm clock and a cozy blanket in there. Suddenly spending the night at the office doesn’t seem so bad after all. People would think you were the first one there in the morning and the last one to leave at night. Who knows…you might even get a raise because of this simple, hidden bed. [Designed by Athanasia Leivaditou of Studio NL]
