Yesterday was Warren Buffett’s 82nd birthday, and I read on NBC News last night that he celebrated by giving each one of his three children $600 million dollars worth of company stock for each of their charitable foundations. Whoa! Can you even imagine celebrating your birthday like that? I think it is incredibly inspiring. Warren Buffett is truly one of those people who pushes us forward in the belief that anything is possible. Millions of people around the world have learned countless, valuable financial lessons from him over the years by watching how he puts common sense into every decision he makes.
There are so many great Warren Buffet quotes that I try to remember. My favorite one is “If you cannot control your emotions, you cannot control your money.” Since his net worth is around $44 billion dollars, my guess is he can control his emotions quite well. You can read some more inspiring quotes from him on 50 Warren Buffet Quotes.
In honor of Warren Buffet’s birthday, I thought it might be fun to share this infographic called 10 Financial Lessons We Can Learn From Warren Buffett by BestFinanceSchools.net. Although most of the lessons presented in this infographic are surprisingly simple, the stock info might be a little skewed in this current economy. One thing I personally don’t understand is why people would put money into stocks when they are paying high interest rates on credit card debt, car loans and sometimes even student loans leftover from school. Maybe someone smarter than me on the topic can explain that. Maybe someone who earned their Bachelor of Science in Finance at GMercyU or another fine institution can help me out. Money is such a sensitive subject to a lot of people, but it sure is fun to learn about.
Most of the financial lessons listed here are very easy to follow though. I’ll remember to spend wisely, focus on the long term, hunt for exceptional bargains (I wonder if that can also apply to shoes), and be patient. What lessons have you learned from watching Warren Buffett over the years? Living a frugal lifestyle is another thing he inspires me to do. I just love this kind of stuff!
