How To: Make Supersized S’Mores (No Campfire Needed!)

Cake decorating is an art form all in itself. I have been fortunate enough to watch some of the most epic cakes you’ve ever seen get decorated. It requires way too much patience and artistic skill for me; however, I have a lot of respect for people that create such masterpieces.

Since my mother was a professional cake decorator, growing up I had some birthday cakes that would blow your mind. The one I remember most was the Humpty Dumpty cake that actually had a Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall. After a certain amount of time, Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall, really (just like the nursery rhyme). This was all in cake form. It was fabulous.

I didn’t realize it at first, but this gigantic supersized s’more is not created with a freak of nature humungous marshmallow. Nope, this is all a cake decorating design. How brilliant is that? Stacy at The Birthday Blog created this for her neice. First she made a couple of huge graham crackers using her own recipe. After that, she melted down her own chocolate for that big ‘ol chocolate piece. She laid the chocolate on top of the graham cracker. According to her blog, you could just frost chocolate icing on the graham cracker if you didn’t want to deal with melting down the chocolate.

Next, she frosted a round cake with white icing to represent the marshmallow. Lastly, she put the second graham cracker on top of the cake. You can get all her recipes and detailed directions on The Birthday Blog. I like this almost as much as the Yoda cake and the iPhone cake. Nice going Stacy! Thank you!
