As I was looking at some old posts on Bit Rebels today, I realized that we’ve written about a lot of talented children. Kids these days are so fortunate because they have access to the Internet to gain inspiration and to connect with other kids from all over the world. When they are feeling creative about a particular project, they can read about others their same age who are also artists, builders or musicians.
I remember when I wrote about this successful UK rock group called The Mini Band, which is made up of kids aged 8-10. When they hit the stage to perform a Metallica song, you’d never guess they were so young.
Today I’d like to share with you a child prodigy from Iraq. He is an 8-year-old certified, professional photographer named Qamar Hashim. He started learning about photography when he was only 4. I was really touched when I read that he refuses to take any pictures of the violence in his country. His own house was destroyed in the war in 2003, right before he was born. He wants to portray Iraq as a peaceful, beautiful country with kind people.
And as a result, he is careful to only capture happy, artistic images that inspire him each day. You are so talented Qamar! We wish you much success on your photography journey. We hope it always brings you happiness and joy! You can read an interview with Qamar Hashim on Reuters, and you can see a few of his photographs below.
