Planking: You Got A Body, You Got A Plank [35 Pics]

I have a secret to tell you. I’m a closet planker. I love it. It’s so freaking stupid, but I can’t get enough. If you are like me, once you’ve enjoyed planking a few times, it turns into an obsession. Everywhere I go my mind thinks, “Hey, I could plank right there” or “I wonder if I could climb up there to plank.” I counted yesterday that I have 31 planking pictures saved on my iPhone. The moment I get a spare hour, I’m going to post them all on Facebook just for a giggle.

So, anyone wanna go planking with me this weekend? If you’ve been living under a rock for the past six months, and you don’t know what planking is, I will try to describe it to you. It’s tricky because if you are a planker, you know it’s not just the actual plank that is so much fun. It’s also the anticipation of the plank. I get as much fun out of choosing a challenging plank location as I do the plank itself. It’s all about the unexpected, the unusual, the creativity, and of course, most of all, the challenge. Getting a one-of-a-kind photo of a very special plank feels like a huge victory. There is even a site dedicated to Apple Store planking. How about instead of me trying to explain planking, I just show you some planking pictures.

When you look at some of these pictures of creative plankers, you might think that it doesn’t require any talent. However, I want to assure you that it does. There are many people, including me, who have experienced failed planks. Depending on how challenging the location is, planking is like getting exercise. It requires strong abs and legs, and a sense of balance and equilibrium. If you plank too much in the beginning, you could experience some sore muscles.

I know some of you are reading this and probably thinking I need to get a life. I don’t care, that’s cool. If you are a newbie planker, remember to keep it safe. There are some people who have died from attempting extreme planks. I burned my own leg from planking on a moving motorcycle, but it was my best plank to date and totally worth the rush. Seriously though, keep it fun, keep it safe, and keep it sorta legal. *wink* Below are some fun planking pics. I snagged some of these pics off Twitpic today, others came from around the Internet. The image credits are below. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!
