Planning A Trip To Israel – Here Is What You Need To Know

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word Israel? If you are a religious person, you’ll likely think about the Bible and other religious stuff. I too, think about the Promised Land and all the beautiful stories my Sunday school teacher used to tell me when I was younger.

But there is more to Israel than just a religious destination – the country has a rich history, tasty foods, diverse landscape, and the lowest point on earth. It also has a fantastic culture, funny people, and one of the coolest cities in the world – Tel Aviv.

If you are planning your first trip to Israel, you’ll need some Israel travel tips from a person who understands the country well. Often, they’ll help inform you of what to expect so you can prepare adequately. Here is a brief guide to planning a trip to Israel

The Best Time To Visit

The best time to travel to Israel is during May, just after the religious event in April and before the summer rush. May offers almost perfect weather and scenery, and since there will be fewer tourists in the popular attractions, you’ll get all the time and space to do everything you feel like.

Besides, you won’t have to worry about missing a hotel room or paying high prices because of demand. The Israeli flights are also cheaper in May. In fact, a round trip may cost you between $800 and $1000 in May depending on where you’re departing from and the days of the week. November is also an ideal time to travel, though the scenic appeal won’t be as incredible as the one in spring.

Where To Stay

The thriving beach city of Tel Aviv and the sacred sites of Jerusalem are two most sought after destinations in the country, and both are situated at the center of Israel, allowing for easy access to many destinations. They also offer stellar accommodations that strike a perfect balance of indulgence and real Mediterranean culture.

The Price Levels Are On The Higher Side

Expensive is relative; however, if you are traveling on a budget, it’s essential to carry enough money with you, just in case you want to buy things when you are in Israel. This is especially true when you are buying things near famous sites. However, you may still save up if you choose to live and have fun the way the locals do.

Getting Around

Bus travel is a common mode of transport for anyone who is traveling from one city to another or from one destination site to another. But still, you can have a taxi ferry you from one point to the next.

There are also car rentals, but generally, the taxis and buses are cheaper and always available. Another important thing to bear in mind is that Israel isn’t that big. You can drive from border to border in five or six hours.

Foods

Selections like hummus, shawarma, tahiniare, and falafel are not only sumptuous; they are also healthy and way more inexpensive than a sit-down meal. In Israel, breakfast is an important meal – you’ll find pastries, salads, eggs, cereals, juice, fruit, meat, tea, coffee, among other delicacies. Most of their foods come straight from the firm.
