10 Rainbow Bento Lunch Options To Inspire You With Colors

Authentic Japanese bento and the bento many people make here in the States are two very different things. Sometimes I think calling some of those food designs bento is like saying Taco Bell is Mexican food. It’s just not quite right. However, regardless of the semantics, bento lunch designs have gotten very popular over the past few years. Foodies make bento lunch designs because they are a blast to create, students like to eat a bento lunch because it’s fast, easy and all packaged in one disposable container, and moms like to make their tots a bento lunch since it is fun and encourages kids to eat their fruits and veggies.

Although some of the character-themed bento designs are super fun (and I imagine very time consuming to create), I like the rainbow colored bento best. The things is, it’s hard to get the color blue into a bento design. Think about it. What foods do you know that you might eat for lunch that are blue? There are definitely blueberries, but those can be hard to find. As you see in some of the pictures below, sometimes food coloring is needed to complete the look.

There is just something about a rainbow bento that makes it look extra delicious. It almost even looks too good to eat! Below is a collection of rainbow colored bento to brighten your day (and your lunch). If you aren’t in the mood for bento, as an added little bonus, I put a rainbow colored waffle design below too. That is another one that would be super fun to make. You can get the recipe and tutorial for how to make those on Rainbow Waffles. Both of these things would be a great project for anyone who likes to spend time in the kitchen. After all, the joy in these is definitely in the creation itself. They will most likely be gobbled up in a fraction of time compared to how long they take to make. Happy bento-ing and waffle-ing!
