I am fascinated lately with tattoos. I’ve never gotten a tattoo, but I think I’m ready for my first one. I will choose to have it drawn in a private place, but I know a lot of people take great pride in their tattoos and have them put on display for the world to see.
As I was reading about different designs and options, I stumbled across something that blew my mind: Tongue tattoos. Yes, you read that correctly, some people get tattoos on their tongues!
Part of me is intrigued by this from an artistic perspective. Some of these tattoos are really beautiful. I’ve also learned that tongue tattoos are a wonderful compliment to tongue piercing.
According to this article on http://www.tattooique.com, “Those who had a tongue tattoo do admit it hurts like hell and speech is initially difficult, but claim that the surprise factor of sticking out their tongues at unwary persons is worth the effort.”
There is even a technique of tattooing, created by Curtis McMurty, that adds flavors to go with the tattoo. You can choose from chocolate, vanilla or garlic. Apparently, this procedure is safe.
This article goes on to state that food tastes like burnt flesh after getting this type of tattoo. Hmmm… I’m thinking, new diet plan?
Let me see: Lots of pain, inability to speak, ruined taste buds – I don’t think I’ll be getting one of these any time soon, but some of them are really pretty works of art.
