I’m not usually a fan of calling people out on Twitter mistakes. Each person gets out of social media what they put into it, and there is no reason to let anyone cramp your style (even if it annoys some people). But when I saw this list of 10 Twitter mistakes in the real world, I couldn’t stop giggling. It’s bizarre to think of Twitter annoyances happening IRL, but it definitely happens. It may be online, or it may be offline, but annoying is annoying if you know what I mean.
This infographic (or infocomic) is called 10 Twitter Mistakes In The Real World, and it is presented by DashBurst and The Maple Kind. An interesting thing to me about this comic is that these particular 10 Twitter annoyances are very different from what they would have been 5 years ago. Back then, we would have compiled a completely different list of Twitter mistakes. Well, spamming in direct message and retweeting compliments would have been on the list back then too, so I guess not everything has changed.
So next time you come off a heavy Twitter session only to go out into real life and get some snarly looks from people, remember this list of 10 Twitter mistakes. You may be transferring them from Twitter to real life. If you find yourself doing that, quickly log into Facebook, Pinterest or Google+ to instantly get cured.
If you are a regular on Twitter, and you are committing these 10 Twitter fallacies, please consider changing your ways. As the corresponding article on DashBurst says, if you are doing these things, “just know your tweet is chipping away at the cherished bandwidth of our Internet, providing zero value at the expense of both our time.”
