5 Basic Steps To Social Media Success That Are Easy To Forget [Chart]

Sometimes the simplest, most important things in life are the easiest to forget. For example, it’s easy to forget to brush your teeth, charge your smartphone and take the emergency brake off before driving. But if you forget to do those things, there are consequences. For brands, the same applies to social media success. Just showing up on social media and being present is half the battle. Beyond that, it’s just a few basics that are unfortunately very easy to forget.

There are so many articles and infographics that make social media success seem elusive and complicated. It’s not really like that though. It’s not hard if you just remember the basics. This chart called 5 Steps To Social Media Success That Most Business Owners Forget (by Janet E. Johnson) lists the most important things to remember.

If you click over on Janet’s link, you can read an in-depth corresponding article that goes into detail on each one of these five things. This stuff may seem obvious to some people, but to others, I’m sure it will be very helpful.

If you are in charge of social media for your brand, and if you forget to set some goals, plan your content, be consistent, engage with people and monitor what’s working and what isn’t – you may struggle with achieving the social media success you desire. I like this chart because it is simple and easy. Just plan your work and work your plan.

Once you get these basics covered, and you are on your way, then you can start looking into the more complex social media strategies. It’s this basic stuff that has always been and continues to be the most fun for me though. Sometimes keeping things as simple as possible is the best path for success!
