The Many Faces Of Internet Users [Infographic]

I was recently invited to participate in a project which assesses online personality types and the best ways to deal with them. This was a hot topic several years ago, but now that social media is so mainstream, I think the majority of people out there understand that there are as many different personality types online as there are offline. As I’ve said so many times before, we don’t have an online life and an offline life. Instead, it’s all intertwined into one life, and our real personality shows through in both places. That is why I say you can learn a lot about people by reading their tweets. All the information you need to know about someone’s personality is right there, well, that is assuming they are engaging with other people on Twitter.

If you’ve ever studied the DISC personality types then you know what I mean. If you would like to learn more about a person’s personality using this system, you can read an article I wrote a few years ago called Twitter DISC Personality Types & Examples. Recently Flowtown, in collaboration with Column Five, created this infographic called The Many Faces of the Internet User. This cheeky little chart only points out a very limited number of online personalities, but I still thought it was a fun read.

The little spambot on here is cute. The interesting thing is, years ago when Twitter first started, everyone was so anti-bots. For the most part, people are still anti-bots, but we’ve all oddly become somewhat used to them. They are almost like online pets. I have one little bot who tweets me often, and I’ve even sent him a tweet or two back, even though I know he’s a bot. I know, we Internet addicts can be real weirdos.
