Geeky Twitter Data Necklace Created With Software & Your Tweets

Twitter is a very special social media site for a lot of people. For those of us who started tweeting in 2008 and 2009, you know what I’m talking about. The Twitter community was a very close-knit group of friends back then, and those beginning years will always hold a special place in our hearts. Those friendships will last forever, and sometimes they get intertwined with our offline friends too. If you’ve been looking for a way to show your offline friends your tweets, I found a very geeky new Twitter necklace to show you.

If you thought all Twitter necklaces were created the same, think again. Sure, most of them display your username or your tweets in some artsy way, but this Twitter necklace goes far beyond that. This laser-cut, laser-etched acrylic necklace, which you’d never know was a Twitter necklace based on the size, color and shape, uses software to display your tweets in a data visualization format. It’s called the Data Necklace.

The software goes into your Twitter account and saves 3,000 of your tweets. It can detect if your tweets indicate that you are fond of tweeting a particular word or hashtag. As you know, there are some of your tweets that nobody would really understand except for you. It’s like your story or diary for a certain time frame illustrated in tweets. On this necklace, time is expressed by 12 pairs of beads. Each bead represents up to a month of data. You can choose to have your necklace display a whole year of your Twitter experience if you choose.

This beautiful physical expression of tweets was created by hacker Stef Lewandowski. You can watch the video below to learn how this Data Necklace came into existence. It’s such a new and original twist on a popular concept. The only problem I see with this necklace is that it’s very expensive (it starts at about $350…eeek!). You can order your own on the website.
