A month ago we wrote about a service that lets you 3D print your head on a stormtrooper figure. It was a great way to feel the force. Star Trek fans don’t need to feel left out though because there is also a way trekkies can get their own heads 3D printed on top of a Star Trek figure. To make this figurine look even more like you, you can also choose its height and weight (along with uniform, rank and pose). What a great idea for the ultimate Star Trek fan!
This service is provided by a 3D printing company called Cubify. You can watch an eleven second time-lapse video of the process below. It’s all pretty simple. You just start at the Cubify website and choose whether you want your figure to be male or female. I chose female. Then I picked whether I wanted my Star Trek figure to be holding a phaser, a tricorder or nothing. There is also an option if you want to be Vulcan.
Then I got to choose my shirt color (duh…gold). The choices are gold (command), blue (science) or red (operations). Next I got to choose my rank. I figured as long as I selected the gold color, I might as well go all the way and be the captain. Next is weight and height. You don’t get to choose your exact weight and height. For example, heights are listed as ‘short, medium and tall.’
Last but not least, you upload a high quality head photo, pay $70 and get ready for your Star Trek figure to come in the mail. Yee-haw! If you want more information on this, you can click on the source articles below. What a fun way to get yourself 3D printed like a boss!
