Yesterday Apple announced that beginning May 28th, the iPad will be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. Customers in these countries can begin preordering their iPad on May 10th.
Apple also said that beginning in July (the exact date and local pricing has not been announced), the iPad will also be released in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore.
Unfortunately, the price of the iPad in these countries will be considerably higher than what the selling price is here in the States. Because of this, many people will still probably prefer ebay as a more affordable option.
According to Apple’s blog, in the United States, Apple has already sold over one million iPads, customers have downloaded over 12 million apps from the App store, and over 1.5 million ebooks from the new iBookstore. That’s incredible! As an iPad user myself, I am thrilled that more of my friends around the world will be able to experience it very soon!
