There are probably thousands of smartphone concept designs on the Internet. It seems like everyone has an idea about what the perfect smartphone would be like. If you could design your own smartphone, what features would you make sure it had? I would want all the Star Trek technology incorporated into mine, so I will probably have to wait a while before that’s available. This smartphone, called the Bubble Touch, made me laugh. It brings back a lot of fun memories from the QWERTY keyboard era.
Back in 2009, I had a friend on Twitter (she has since closed her account), and she used to always make me laugh because she would tweet about how she would put her BlackBerry underneath the table and IM her friends whenever she was bored with the dinner conversation. Back in the QWERTY keyboard days, none of us had to look at the keys, remember? Those keys were worn from typing so much, and we knew that keyboard inside and out.
Now that we’ve all transitioned over to the touchscreen, those days are almost gone, except for the few people who are holding on to their raised keyboards. This Bubble Touch smartphone suggests that we should have 2 keyboards – a touchscreen keyboard for when we are in the mood for that one, and a “bubble” raised keyboard for when we are in the mood for that one.
The Bubble Touch phone is 2 sided, and you just flip the phone to the side you want to use based on your mood, or whether you need to type underneath the dinner table. It’s based on a transparent phone, and it’s easy to switch back and forth. I don’t know if this kind of phone would ever be popular, but it sure did make me smile today. It brought back that feeling of nostalgia that can only come from a QWERTY keyboard.
