Facebook Smartphone: This Is What It Will Look Like

As most of you know, Facebook has been rumored to be working on a Facebook smartphone. Their own phone would have a social networking layer, which assuming they are innovating, would make it even easier to connect, search and find information about people around the world. Facebook has denied any development of a Facebook smartphone, but the media has been furiously looking into the matter. That has spawned some interesting information.

A recent event invitation welcomed the media to take part in the unveiling of Facebook’s “new home on Android,” which according to many, suggests that the social media giant is actually going to announce a Facebook smartphone. Whether this is the case or not is of course hard to say. Facebook has somewhat picked up the “tools and skills” that Apple usually implements when they announce a keynote or event. You basically send out a cryptic message in order to intrigue the world, which in turn unleashes a storm of speculations and rumors.

Android Police is said to have obtained complete system specs for the Facebook smartphone called HTC First. The specs outline features like 1GB of RAM, a 4.3 inch 720p display and a dual core Snapdragon S4 processor. The Facebook smartphone will also run on Android 4.1.2. The system dump also reveals a core feature and app called Facebook Home, which displays social content on the user’s home screen. The app should most likely be available through the Play Store for smartphones running Android.

The Facebook smartphone will apparently also come in several different colors and have a customized user interface which makes navigating on it a whole lot easier. It is said to be a customized version of Android OS. Whether or not this smartphone is what Facebook is planning to announce is hard to say. The reveal should be under way right when this article is published, so I guess we will all know soon enough. (Pictures obtained by @evleaks)
