There is a lot of innovation going on now when it comes to more efficient and environmentally friendly lighting options. It’s a much needed area of our lives that needs improving, and we’ve written about many alternative lighting options. Yesterday I heard about a Kickstarter project that was seeking $250,000 in funding, and with 20 days to go, they’ve raised over $386,000. I had to check it out, and it was another innovative lighting solution. These are firefly lights.
Firefly lights are basically blue laser lamps with passive cooling technology built into them. The safe, low power lasers are combined with sophisticated optics to provide you with a unique way to light up your world. Since the passive cooling technology eliminates moving parts, firefly lights are completely quiet.
As you can see in the pictures, the lasers project for long distances, so there is no more wasted energy or inefficient lighting. Firefly lights are made with 99.6% recyclable materials, and they only use 0.4 watts of power. These lamps are called firefly lights since they make it look like there is a bunch of fireflies in the room. The lamp itself is small and portable, so you can take it with you anywhere you need a light source.
You can plug a firefly lamp into the outlet or power it with 2 AAA batteries. It’s designed to fit 4 batteries so you can fill it with extras for emergencies. I can see now why this campaign is going to go down as one of the most successful campaigns in Kickstarter history. Since the campaign has already been funded (with 20 days to spare), these lights are a sure thing. You can order yours at the discounted campaign price by clicking over to their Firefly Lights Kickstarter page.
