Technology is introducing itself into every area of our lives, and it is only a matter of time before it starts transforming bars around the world as well. Bars have pretty much looked the same for decades, but in the last few years we have started to see some changes that might just make grabbing a beer a little bit more high tech. A new touchscreen Valo bar top is making heads turn around the world, and you will understand why by the end of this article.
As much as I would like the Valo bar to be a thriving company, it doesn’t seem to be the case. However, their technology is groundbreaking and could very well find its way into bars all around the world anyway. The approach is to detect what’s on the bar by mounting cameras underneath the countertop itself. Projectors, (also mounted underneath the countertop), will then outline the object by a vail of light which creates the science fiction effect we can see in the video below.
The Valo bar countertop was actually introduced back in 2009, but since then the company behind it seems to have gone out of business (I can’t however verify this at the current moment). This is unfortunate as this product could have meant a huge leap for bars all over the world. People are saying the Microsoft’s Surface countertop is way more suitable for bars. However, I am not so sure about that.
The Valo bar, even though it was introduced back in 2009, is still one of those eye catching products that I am sure, (should it still exist), would turn heads when people came in the door. Valo bar countertops are as much “TRON” as anything you have ever seen. It could very well be the case that the company just changed names and that is why their official website is no longer active. If anyone one of you has any information about this, please don’t hesitate to tell us in the comment section below. This is technology that shouldn’t be swept under the rug, it needs to be seen.
