Website Speed: 14 Rules For Faster-Loading Websites [Infographic]

Website speed is a big deal, and if you haven’t had to address this in the past, and if your blog keeps growing, you will definitely have to address it in the future. As you continue your blogging journey and try to increase your blog’s traffic over the years, there are many little obstacles that you will inevitably have to overcome in order to continue growing.

Each time you reach one of these obstacles, you may feel frustrated and exasperated while you attempt to overcome it, but once you’ve done it, you will feel the biggest sense of accomplishment ever.

Think about it this way, if having a successful blog was easy, everyone would have one, right? When bloggers reach these hurdles, some unfortunately don’t have the dedication, commitment or resources required to learn what is necessary, and they stop growing. Eventually the playing field gets smaller and smaller. I can only imagine what happens behind the scenes when the really big blogs have to overcome their really big obstacles. Website speed is one of those things you will eventually have to deal with as you grow your traffic.

This infographic, which promotes Speed Awareness Month, was created by the wonderful people over at MaxCDN. According to this, not only does slow website speed affect Google and SEO rankings, but it also affects your conversions and revenue. The most important thing it affects is the user’s experience. If your users aren’t happy then nobody’s happy if you know what I mean.

Since we have over 32,000 images and tons of video content here on Bit Rebels, we found that in addition to all the optimizing Richard does (he optimizes the site more every day), getting a CDN (Content Delivery Network) made sense. The moment we had our CDN service (by MaxCDN) up and running, our website speed increased tremendously. We’ve been using MaxCDN for almost two years now, and it’s been a great experience in every way.

If you are struggling with website speed issues, check out the 14 rules for a faster-loading websites listed in this infographic. In addition to these things, make sure your plugins are all updated. The best piece of advice I can give you is don’t give up. The problem of website speed can be solved. It just takes a commitment to solve the problem. Oh, and get a CDN (Content Delivery Network). It’s worth every penny, and it will put your mind at ease and allow you to start focusing on the other important things on your blog. I’ve researched them all, and I think MaxCDN is the best, so I can suggest from experience that you start there.
