Cult Movies Seen Through An Augmented Reality iPhone

If you own a smartphone, you know there are plenty of apps that give you the ability to distort, change or even enhance the reality seen through its lens. Augmented reality made its debut a few years ago in the smartphone app market, and it has become a huge success. It didn’t capture smartphone users instantly, but it has slowly grown successful. With augmented reality you can do a lot of things, like putting cult movies into your reality for example.

I might be misleading you a little when I say augmented reality. The reason for that is these pictures are not actually augmented reality pictures per say. They are Photoshopped pictures which add cult movies to our own reality. Don’t get me wrong though, they are as inspiring as they could get. Seeing these cult movies grace our own reality in a way that we haven’t seen before gives you a sense of retro traveling. It would be absolutely awesome if someone came up with a way to make a real augmented reality app that showed exactly what you’re seeing in these pictures.

The photographer, François Dourlen, sure knows how to make his photographs come alive and draw the viewer in. I can’t help but think about how I would be scared senseless if I used an augmented reality app on my iPhone in a cemetery and saw an undead crawl up from behind a sarcophagus. It would make for some epic afternoon entertainment for sure.

The question is whether or not you know all of the cult movies used to create these lively and unique pictures. Just when you thought photography couldn’t get more impressive, this comes along and changes our whole perspective of creativity. The only thing left now is for someone to actually create this augmented reality app so that we can experience these cult movies through our smartphones and marvel over the powerful technology that we have at our disposal. All this is in a small, thin and seemingly humble box of awesomeness that we have come to call a smartphone.
